HEART has launched a robust public engagement process to identify the green features, space-saving solutions and amenities both homeowners and future occupants would like to see in the Green and Livable Accessory Dwelling Unit Resource (GLADUR) program’s designs. Your ideas could be general or specific.
Are you interested in having a storage loft or more closet space on the ground level? Do you need one or two bedrooms? What appliances are a must in your kitchen? Comments made about floor plans and internal amenities—green or otherwise—could improve the living space for occupants. Perhaps you’ve seen a great space-saving feature that should be included in the designs. Please let us know!

Please visit HeartofsmcADU.org to learn more about the GLADUR program and for all public participation, including comments, answer any surveys, and to provide your own design ideas.
Homeowners will also be pleased to hear that they will be able to customize an ADU’s exterior appearance to better match the primary house. It would be helpful to know whether you’re interested in building an ADU and your primary home’s architectural style/cladding/roofing materials to better understand the type of structures that GLADUR homes should strive to match.
