City of San Mateo First-Time Homebuyer and BMR Program
The City of San Mateo sponsors a variety of programs for first-time homebuyers looking to buy a home in San Mateo, including a Below-Market Rate (BMR) program. It is not necessary for the applicant to live or work in the City of San Mateo to apply, however, those that do will receive priority. California Housing Finance Agency
CalHFA has mortgage and down-payment assistance options for low and moderate income families. Among other criteria, borrowers must complete homebuyer education courses and obtain a certificate of completion through an eligible homebuyer counseling organization, such as HomeownershipSF.
